Church Planting: Risk, Opportunity and the Dynamic of Gospel Multiplication
Bishop Andrew will be speaking on what God thinks of ‘the city’ and what it mean for us to share his concern for the city of Birmingham.

Andrew Watson moved to Birmingham at the end of 2008 to take on his new role as Bishop of Aston. His ministry included the leadership of two recently planted churches in Redditch and Notting Hill, before becoming Vicar of St. Stephen's East Twickenham - a large Anglican church which planted three new churches in the south-west London area. He is author of the books 'The Fourfold Leadership of Jesus' and 'Confidence in the Living God'.

The gospel to the city; church-planting as a strategy

2020 Birmingham; a church-planting initiative for the city
Neil Powell will conclude with an introduction to the 2020 Birmingham initiative in particular. What does it mean for churches to work together in church-planting? What are the particular aims and ethos of the vision? How can such a vision be realised?

Neil grew up in Birmingham before moving to London to study. Having found faith in Christ and marrying Jane he returned to Birmingham in 1993 where he has ministered ever since. In 1999 Neil planted City Church. In 2008 City planted its first daughter church and in the same year he was invited to chair a working group of the Midlands Gospel Partnership looking into church-planting from which 2020 Birmingham began.
