Our Strategy
2020 vision has identified three ways in which we aim to be a catalyst for planting in Birmingham.
1. Promoting church-planting in Birmingham by:
- Raising awareness of the need for church planting in Birmingham in the wider Evangelical world
- Identifying potential church planters already within the city
- Identifying the needs of the city through research to develop a strategy to meet the needs of the next twenty years
- Promoting prayer support for the vision in church congregations
- Recruiting planters into the city especially those who are equipped to reach new people-groups in the city who may be under-served by the established churches
- Encouraging established churches and organisations to partner in the work of church-planting and if appropriate to join the partnership
2. Facilitating church-planting in Birmingham by:
- The development of a peer-to-peer network for new church-planters where they can encourage each other through prayer and example
- Providing on-going training for newly established church-plants by experienced planters
- Assisting established churches in their plans to plant
- Providing, where appropriate, advice and support to any church-plants whose primary support comes from within a Church Network
3. Resourcing and supporting new church-planting initiatives
- 2020 has also launched The Planters Program, a complete training resource that aims to assist lead church planters plant where no training program exists within an existing network. It includes:
-
- Coaching/mentoring of lead-planters
- Training for core groups
- Assistance in raising of finances
- A two-year training program with input from experienced planters
- Assistance in the recruitment of core-groups
