2020 Birmingham is a coalition of churches and organizations working together in the Birmingham area to encourage church planting initiatives. The goal of the partnership is to assist in the planting of 20 new congregations by the year 2020. Our desire is to serve the church by identifying needs in all parts of the city, raising awareness amongst churches, working alongside other organizations, training and resourcing new leaders and planting new churches. We believe that church-planting is a vital and necessary means of taking the good news of Jesus Christ to every part of the great city of Birmingham.
2020birmingham began life as an initiative of the Midlands Gospel Partnership (midlandsgospelpartnership.org) in 2008 bringing together a number of churches from FIEC and the Church of England. It quickly grew to include both Birmingham City Mission and New Frontiers Network. We are also working closely with a number of organizations seeking to reach the different communities of our city.
2020birmingham has worked closely with Redeemer City to City from which it has received advice, support and training.
